Alpha-Beta - New methods for services towards illiterates in adult education

"Alpha-Beta" developed innovative methods for adult educational services for illiterates in Europe. The project focused on alternative forms of learning and acquisition of competences for illiterates based on their learning needs and will thus not necessarily concentrate on the ability of reading and writing.

Alpha-Beta offers 6 modules for classroom learning in groups and nine learning packages for mobile use with mobile phones.

Alpha-Beta responds to the growing need of special learning courses for adults with special needs. The number of illiterates in the EU has been increasing for many years now. In some EU memberstates up to 11 percent of the entire population have problems reading and writing.

In many cases these people failed in special courses where they were taught to read and write. This is especially true for the elderly. Often, people with illiteracy are not interested in learning how to read and write because whenever they went for a try it meant a bad experience of discrimination or inferiority. ?Alpha-Beta? offers innovative forms of learning in reach out to special target groups for better inclusion in adult education provision.
